Candid thoughts on fame and early stage success on YouTube.
In this weeks episode, we are driving to the Grand Canyon to help out with The Jump. In case you missed it - Last week, Will Smith bungee jumped out of a helicopter because of our friends at Yes Theory. While we were driving from Pheonix to Flagstaff Arizona, we turned on our mics and recorded one of our most vulnerable conversations to date. We talked about fame and what it means in the modern world. We also talked about some early stage success we've had with our new show, The Breakdown, and how that has affected us. We hope you enjoy the conversation and please let us know if you have feedback for the show by tweeting at us @colinandsamir.
18 Year Old Filmmaker Braxton Haugen on YouTube vs Film and Working with Colin and Samir
On this episode of The Colin and Samir Podcast, we’re joined by the youngest guest we’ve had on the show, Braxton Haugen. Braxton is a filmmaker and YouTuber based in Oregon, he has a long history of working in entertainment, more specifically in television. He’s 18 years old but as you’ll hear on this podcast, he’s wise beyond his years. We met Braxton because he wrote an article about us, and it was so well written that we schedule a Skype call to learn more about him. On that call Braxton told us that if we ever needed help with anything, he’d fly out to LA and work with us…so a few weeks later Braxton landed in Los Angeles to help us with our new show, The Breakdown. Over the past two weeks, we’ve put out 2 episode of the show and learned a lot about the production process. But the most important part of the experience was getting to know Braxton and learning how to collaborate, which turned out to be a seamless process. He’s extremely talented, he's well spoken and we’re excited to introduce all of you to Braxton Haugen. Building a long lasting brand with Professional Lacrosse Player Kyle Harrison
This week on the Colin and Samir Podcast, we are really excited to have our good friend Kyle Harrison joining us. Kyle is a professional lacrosse player that Colin and I both looked up to when we were young lacrosse players. As most of you probably know, Colin and I both grew up playing lacrosse - and as we grew our first company, The Lacrosse Network, we actually got to make videos with Kyle and through that process, we became close friends. Something really interesting about our relationship is that Kyle was the catalyst to get us into vlogging. We cover a bunch of topics on this episode including how to manage your content as a professional athlete, How to build trust with someone you want to film (like we did with Kyle), balancing family life and brand building, Lebron vs MJ and Race issues in the sport of lacrosse. Now in this episode we definitely dive into some topics that are specific to lacrosse, but even if you’re not familiar with the sport I still think this conversation is valuable to anyone who is interested in content creation and brand building - Athletes have always fascinated us with their ability to build long-lasting brands and Kyle is someone who has been building his brand since before the age of social media.
Facing your fears, Conquering Imperfection and Daily Vlogging with Cody Wanner
Today on the podcast we are joined by YouTube Creator: Cody Wanner Cody is a daily vlogger who’s goal is to encourage the Doers, he is also responsible for the no small creator movement - a movement that suggests that there is no such thing as a small creator, whether you are creating for an audience of 1 or 1 million, the concept of creation is so large that the term small creator sounds ridiculous Cody’s content has picked up a lot of traction recently after his collaboration with Peter McKinnon. Cody talks about why he started daily vlogging, how to balance his family life with daily content creation for YouTube and gives us a ton of great stories from his adventures. Check out the video we made with Cody when he stopped by our Downtown LA studio: https://youtu.be/vSfIMsnINsg

Bringing an idea to life and dropping the term "YouTuber" : Your Questions Answered
This week we decided to experiment with the format of this podcast. We decided to wear wireless lav mics and walk around Venice beach answering the questions that you put in the reviews of our show. The idea came from a conversation we had about "Daily Vlogging" in podcast form and what that would be like, we thought it would be interesting to hear what it sounded like to go through daily life with a mic on. Let us know what you think about this episode and of this format, you can tweet at us @colinandsamir and you can also rate & review our podcast. Feel free to leave a question in our reviews and we will answer it on a future episode. We reference a YouTube video in this episode about a book that became the number 1 best seller on Amazon - here's the link to that video: https://youtu.be/_DRsu5Cv3O0 - Colin and Samir
