That’s what high performance is to me, the ability to adapt rapidly so you can achieve your potential. There are five key pillars to creating the conditions for adaptability: sleep, exercise, mental resilience, nutrition, and community/relationships.” - Dr Erik Korem “I maybe have a different concept on leadership. To me, leading is a verb. If you’re leading, you’re a leader. If you’re swimming you’re a swimmer, if you’re driving you’re a driver. If you’re leading you’re by definition a leader. I define leading as being looked to in a particular moment to make a decision or perform an action based on your unique gifts and abilities. So by that definition, everybody is a leader. All rank and role really describe is how many people are hoping you get it right when it’s your turn to wear the weight.” - Clint Bruce

Those are our seven key relationships, and I believe they come in that order of priority if there are some that are missing or not.” 28:39: “I hear people talk about God. But it all has this kind of unifying meaning of a higher power that creates purpose. And if we understand our source, It helps us to navigate all of the complexities of our life because it gives us meaning and purpose.” 32:30 “And this is why there are so many different religions and other philosophical practices out there as people try to gain purpose and meaning for life. You know, those classic questions, why am I here and where did I come from and where am I going? Right? I mean there are existential questions that I think drive all of the other key relationships.” 35:09 “And it's so interesting to me that two people can come together, love each other enough to reproduce, and then. When they split, there's a process that happens in the mind. It comes from cognitive dissonance.” 37:23 “So you get yourself in a good place, and then you step up to creation mode with that energy of gratitude for the rich, abundant marriage that you have. You take that energy to creation mode. Like what causes inflammation in your body. I think that's the first door or the first lens through which we make decisions. And what's inflammatory for me may not be inflammatory for you.” 34:09: “People think that nutrition is just what I consume, and while that's one step in the process, well what about what I digest, absorb, and assimilate. There's three more levels.” 33:53 “So first thing is don't screw that process up, right? So if, if I'm eating something that, you know, tastes good in my mouth, but I know it's causing havoc in my digestive tract, everything else that goes in is gonna be, you're gonna have mal absorption issues.” ABOUT THE BLUEPRINT PODCAST: The BluePrint Podcast is for busy professionals and Household CEOs who care deeply about their families, career, and health. However, you can control the flashlight. Which thoughts do you wanna focus on? Which thoughts do you want to actually amplify?” 23:39: “We know that the emotions of love, of gratitude, of connection, of joy, of murth, creativity, all those positive celebratory emotions, gratitude being the top one in that list is actually anti-aging medicine. Whereas the emotions of stress, anger, hate, fear, resentment, worry, guilt, and shame drive the stress response.” 25:48: "If you're not paying attention to your sleep or what you're eating or moving or you're under a lot of stress. Follow Pratik on Twitter & Instagram Sign up for Erik’s weekly newsletter - Adaptation Join the AIM7 Beta Community Episode 1 Quotable moments:01:06: “Weight loss is a big way to help control blood glucose levels. And, you know, as opposed to metformin, these GLP-1 agonists work, you know, against gluons. Obviously, glucagon breaks down glycogen molecules to get glucose in the blood, but if you're having issues with glucose control. That's the last thing you wanna have happen.” 2:34: “So a lot of these people that are taking the drug are seeing anywhere from five, 10% even greater than that in terms of their body weight and weight loss. You can imagine if somebody's overweight or obese and they're. Pushing almost 300 pounds, you lose 10% of your body weight. That's 30 pounds.” 4:13: “So what they found was everybody had made some type of progress, but it was definitely pretty significant what the differences were. Exercise in the control group didn't really move the needle on these individuals losing much weight. Those that actually took the drug lost a decent amount of weight, but those, that combined exercise with the drug lost the most.” 5:58: “That's one big concern is when you're on medications for a long time. We don't know the long-term issues with it. What actually is gonna happen to some of these people because, you know, it can affect your different organs, it can affect the kidneys, it can affect, potentially the heart and brain.” 7:19: “I would wanna look at is, cool you lost weight, but what has it done to your internal systems? Do you have excessive inflammation? Has it affected your testosterone, your hormone function? What is it doing to your blood glucose control over time? But I think, and again, We have to look at this objectively.” ABOUT THE BLUEPRINT PODCAST: The BluePrint Podcast is for busy professionals and Household CEOs who care deeply about their families, career, and health. Most people think that if they want to transform their body, they want to build muscle. Effort is the big lever. And while effort is an incredible important lever, exercise quality is often a bigger opportunity for most people because it's never something that anyone thinks about.” 03:08: “I think your goal is should be to master your body. We only get one, and you have this incredible opportunity to connect deeply, to be closer to your body, understand what your body does, the way it feels, the way it moves, so that as we age, We're able to sustain a high quality of life.” 05:11: “So quality movement, in my perspective, is the ability to dynamically create. A rigid state, as rigid as you need to be. If I wanna squat 200 pounds versus 400 pounds versus 600 pounds, that's a different degree of rigidity. And on the other end of it, I wanna be able to move freely and without restriction.” 12:57: “Exercise is not the end result, right? Exercise is simply creating a stimulus, it's creating a signal. And most people think that if I exercise, I'm doing something good for myself. And while you are, in some senses, the goal of exercise is actually to create the adaptation.” ABOUT THE BLUEPRINT PODCAST: The BluePrint Podcast is for busy professionals and Household CEOs who care deeply about their families, career, and health. We all have an inner voice and inner knowing and almost a compass. But I think throughout time we might get different programming that tells us that your inner voice should not be heard. Mm. You should suppress it.” 2:10: “And that was further kind of trauma that led to the programming because I myself did not feel enough. Not tall enough, not white enough, not American enough, not rich enough, all these things. And for me, I felt like the only way to achieve success is by going and chasing after the things that will make me be enough.” 3:02 “Seven years ago, I was overweight, I was diabetic, I had high blood pressure. And I was on seven prescription medications. And what traditional medicine told me to do at the time was just continue to basically take these meds that, that this was gonna be the destiny, that you were gonna start on a certain amount of meds now, and then over time you would build more and more and more.” 5:51: “I looked at how these people were living and is there any molecular or scientific basis that, that their way of living leads to a longer life? Well, turns out the molecular biology and epigenetic science is starting to prove that how we live our life, our thoughts, our emotions, how much sleep we get, our sense of purpose, all these things actually speak to our DNA in a moment to moment basis that actually controls how our cells behave.” 10:36: “If you find yourself triggered the majority of the day with stress, with anxiety, with worry, with all those negative emotional states, I urge you to think about and look at that potentially being a subconscious pattern that has been conditioned over time.” 15:37 “Your genes are basically constantly listening to the cues of the environment.
